Homemade Strawberry Cake

For the cake:
• 2½ cups all-purpose flour
• 2½ tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1¾ cups sugar
• 4 large Sweet Grown Alabama eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ cup sour cream
• ½ cup whole milk
• 1 cup fresh Sweet Grown Alabama strawberry purée (about 1 pound strawberries)
For the frosting:
• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 4–5 cups powdered sugar
• ¼ cup fresh Sweet Grown Alabama strawberry purée
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• Pinch of salt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Purée the strawberries until smooth.
3. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla and sour cream.
5. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, then fold in the strawberry purée.
6. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
7. Beat the butter until smooth. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar, then add the strawberry purée, vanilla, and salt. Beat until light and fluffy before frosting the cooled cake.
