Alongside my husband Jim, we own JYJ Red Angus in Columbia, Alabama. Here we raise cattle that meet the highest standards of quality and care. At JYJ, the process starts long before it reaches the rail. In our seedstock operation, we begin by using the very best genetics through artificial insemination and embryo transfer where each animal is specifically mated to the optimal breeding choice. Our decision to use Red Angus genetics was based on their exceptional maternal qualities, docility, fertility and carcass merit which produces mouth-watering tenderness, beautiful marbling and rich flavor. Our precise breeding program and very rigorous herd management practices ensure that every calf has the best possible start in life. Our dedication to stewardship is a continuous flow of intentional practices to better care for the livestock and the land.

At JYJ, animal care and nutrition are top priority. Recently, we began custom developing cattle for our customers. We feed and develop cattle on a healthy, nutrient dense, silage-based ration that include the forages grown on our farm mixed with high quality commodities. Silage is grass or other green crops that are chopped and stored in a silo or tarp to undergo fermentation. In addition to being fed, our cattle enjoy grazing on green pastures and are handled in a low-stress environment from birth through harvest.
