Alongside produce and livestock, hospitality is grown at Stebbins Family Farm with educational tours and programs. Located in Athens, Alabama, this family farm is run by Jastin and Kristen along with their four kids, Ryan, Ben, Hannah and Michael. A trip to Stebbins Family Farm includes a hands-on farm tour, fresh agricultural products, outside activities and more!

The family moved from Washington in August 2021, chasing the dream of farm ownership. Growing food for themselves and bringing homemade items to the local community is the objective of the Stebbins Family. They raise chickens, ducks, guineas, katadhin lambs and jersey cows. They are also growing a large garden with a pumpkin patch and mums.

This summer, Jastin and Kristen decided to open their doors for people to learn more about life on the farm. With a variety of hands-on activities and sites to see, farm tours are the perfect opportunity to show the public what a real-life working farm looks like!

“We want to show you our animals, garden, and the reasons we have these items," said Kristen. "Along with learning, a little fun too!”

Stebbins Family Farm offers a wide variety of activities on the farm including a corn bin, dirt pile, bubbles and a petting zoo with cows, sheep, chickens and ducks. They also have several hands-on activities like making butter and ice cream. 

But the family isn't stopping there. Kristen said they are continually brainstorming new opportunities to grow the farm tours. 

Tours are available year-round and will change seasonally just like the farm. Fall will feature pumpkins, a hay bale maze, baby goats and milking opportunities. A unique experience often not found at other pumpkin patches will be a giant pumpkin. Visitors will be able to take photos and admire a pumpkin that Kristen is carefully tending to grow much larger than others on the farm. Attendees on fall tours will learn how gardening is different from summer to fall and how the farm prepares for winter. 

After the tour, consumers can purchase locally-grown products. Stebbins Family Farm sells farm fresh eggs, baked goods and poultry products on-farm. Customers can also visit the farm to purchase without taking a tour. 

There is lots to look forward to in the future on the farm. Jastin and Kristen are planning to building a small shop to sell meat, eggs, educational books and take-home activities. They are also working on classes to teach baking, canning and preserving, and meat processing. They hope to start selling lamb and pork in 2024.
